Reiki is a natural healing system which evolved in Japan from the work of a gentleman called Dr Mikao Usui, pictured here. It was the result of his experience and dedication in searching for the answer to the burning question "how did Jesus perform the miracle of healing".
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.
If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being balanced and healthy. Reiki treats the person as a whole including body, emotions, mind and spirit.
When a person has been initiated into Reiki, their energy channels have been opened so that they can direct this universal life energy. Receiving a Reiki treatment is a simple process which involves the Reiki practitioner placing their hands on the person wishing to be healed. The process happens automatically with the patient drawing the Reiki to their areas of need, normally on a subconscious level.
Sometimes a hands-on treatment is not practical, or might not be the best option. Maybe you live too far away, have a very busy schedule, or (particularly in the case of animals) there may be fear, size or age issues which might make a distant Reiki treatment more suitable. Alternatively, a combination of the two might be the best solution .Distant Reiki offers the same benefits as hands-on Reiki. By using the sacred symbols in the Usui System it bridges the distance between practitioner and receiver.
